I think the R1850DB or R2000DB are the Edifier bookshelf models that have decent enough low end bass sound that you can do away with a subwoofer. but it does not extend low enough like what you hear on most PC speaker systems with dedicated subwoofer. ![]() I would say low end bass will sound better on the Altec Lansing ATP3 because of the subwoofer, but the midrange to treble should sound better on the R1280DB. Altec ATP3 has a better sounding low end bass / low end rumble (just guessing) R1280DB has a punchier and more detailed mid-bass ![]() R1280DB has a smoother and more detailed sounding treble R1280DB has a more forward sounding and full bodied mid-range So I'm guessing the sound will also be influenced by the surface of the table where you put the satellites on.Īssuming the ATP3 sounds similar to the Altec Lansing ACS 45.1 which I am familiar with, you can expect these differences: Not sure how the Altec Lansing ATP3 sounds like, but the design is unique by having a downward firing driver on each satellite.
